C. T. "Chuck" Keller's Biography

Summary

A SUNY-Buffalo grad in mechanical engineering and a 35-year veteran in the plastics field. I provide both technical and marketing services to both individual and corporate clients.

I consult in plastic concepts and designs, cost analysis, plastic processes such as injection molding, compression molding, resin casting, blow molding, thermoforming, reaction injection molding, extrusion, rotational molding, etc.

I provide resin selections using resin databases, part and mold design, part evaluations and simplification, assembly techniques, wear studies, coatings, color/weather testing and procedures. I provide through my Associates Mold Flow and Mold Cool Analysis, Microstructural Analysis, Auto Cad drafting, Pro E modeling, FEA, Sterolithography, IR, DSC, TGA, and physical property testing services.

  • 1989-97 Dupont - Technical Consultant in Plastics- Wilmington, DE
    Part design and processing of Dupont's engineering polymers.
    Liaison to Dupont Vespel for hybrid parts. Patent awarded.
    Liaison to Dupont Corian for joint venture of vanity bowls.
    Part of the Electrical/Electronics part encapsulation team doing precision overmolding of electronic parts and sensors.
    Liaison to LNP Corp for Dupont's LCP resins
    Liaison to Dupont's fluoropolymer marketing division.
  • 1986-89 Dupont - Pioneering and Advanced Market Development -Wilmington, DE
    Started Dupont's development work in lawn and garden markets.
    Pre-commercialization success included two lawn mower decks, wheel planters, fertilizer containers, and exterior mower hoods. Received excellence award for starting new venture.
    Developed candidate resin systems to replace porcelain-coated steel for washer/dryer lids. Presented paper at Ohio State Appliance Conf. Developed plastic pulley for washing machines. It is now a standard in the industry.
  • 1981-86 Dupont - Technical Service-Design - Wilmington, DE
    Provided technical support to field staff on injection molded parts.
    Wrote numerous articles on part design, assembly, molding techniques.
    Rewrote the Dupont Design Manuals, Zytel* Nylon and Minlon Resins, and Delrin Resin Manual.

    Designed and developed production line for the manufacture of water-soluble insecticide pouches.
  • 1976-79 Dupont - Viaflo Irrigation Tubing - Buffalo, NY
    I took a demonstrated concept for manufacture of irrigation tubing and reinvented the process to make it a commercial success. Supervised Viaflo installations throughout the USA
  • 1969-1976 Dupont - Vexar Plastic Mesh Netting - Buffalo, NY
    Invented and developed biaxial slitting of Vexar. Designed and installed a 130' biaxial orientation process for Vexar. Developed Vexar, snow fencing, barrier fencing, bar liners, harvesting nets, cage netting. Developed the first annular seals for Vexar Dies - bonus awards. Several patents associated with Vexar.
  • 1963-1969 Dupont, Buffalo NY Yerkes Site
    Maintenance Supervisor - maintenance crew for cellophane coating towers and slitting area.
    Project/Plant Engineering - Designed and supervised the installation of the Tedlar barricade area under severe weather, time, and access constraints.
    Member of the Tedlar start-up team. Worked with 12,000-psi pumps, piping systems, and reactors. Organized plant boiler overhauls using PERT.
